Antique Brass and Porcelain Double Inkwell with Candlestick(Ref: 774)
|Quantity||Add to Basket|
A sunning brass and porcelain double inkwell with a central candlestick.
This is not unlike the style of William Tonks, brass founder and manufacturer of art metal ware in the late 19th Century. However, I feel this could be earlier, harking back to the Regency period and classic influences.
The two ceramic inkwells are in excellent condition, no damage to either. There is residue in white powder form from past cleaning attempts. The ceramic around the outside of the inkwells is patterned in a Classic style with rich blues and turquoise colours, the brass is engraved in relief with flora and fauna patterns. The lids are hinged. The brass platform is beautifully framed and sits on 4 ornate brass cornered feet.
The porcelain inside the inkwells is crackled but intact.
Both inkwells are removable and so are also portable and easily cleanable.
Width - 21cm x Depth 12.5cm x Height - 11.5cm to top of candlestick
