Antique Elm Lath back Armchair
(Ref: 673c)Quantity | Add to Basket |
A lovely 19th Century Lath Back Windsor armchair with H stretcher and turned arm supports.
The seat is a gorgeous piece of Elm with a wonderful polished patina. The chair wood have been Ebonised originally, but this is worn off in all of the obvious places.
There has been woodworm, and plenty of it at some point, but this is Historic. We have treated it anyway, as an extra precaution.
It is not pristine, it is used, loved and it has oodles of character, as did the lady who previously owned it, and her family before her. She was the Town Crier in Axbridge for many years and a much loved local lady. So, with a nod to 'Vonnie', we are not touching it. That is an episode for its future.
The chair has a makers mark stamped in the seat base at the back, I.A.
Despite the exterior condition, the chair is structurally sound
