A gorgeous Antique French Chandelier with a Gilt wood central structure and 6 decorative copper arms.
The central structure is of twisted decorative form with a Pineapple at the top and at the bottom. The pineapple was a symbol of luxury, notability and wealth in Europe in the 18th Century. Discovered by Christopher Columbus originally and initially introduced to Spain. Many Europeans in particular Royalty enjoyed them as a treat and a delicacy.
Artists and makers began to incorporate pineapples into their deigns and their art, this was the time of Orangeries and such in large wealthy European Houses
The shades are modern Kate Foreman shades in rustic creams and reds.
The height of the central structure is 80cm
The width at its widest - 78cm
