Beautiful hand painted papier mache Snuff Box
This is a stunning miniature portrait of an elderly man that adorns the lid of an Antique snuff box of circular form.
In the Georgian period Snuff boxes such as these were commonly made of papier mache - which is what I assume this one to be made of, it is very light in weight.
This is a double bonus in terms of collectablility as it covers both snuff boxes and Art
The quality of the painting is exquisite! There is a small chip to the paint near the mouth as you can see in the photo. It wouldn't take much to fix it but I don't feel that is my choice, some people prefer it with its' age intact. Therefore I will leave it up to you.
It is approximately 8cm in diameter and approximately 1.5cm in depth.
