A stunningly beautiful and extremely comfortable Smokers Bow Elm chair bearing the makers mark for Thomas Glenister (snr) of High Wycombe. As stamped 'Glenister Wycombe 40 î'
"In 1873 Thomas took the Moody & Sankey order for 19,300 public hal chairs for Moody's Mission. This was a mission undertaken by the American evangelists Ira Sankey and Dwight Moody, holding public gatherings in British Towns and Cities"
Maybe this was made around the same time. It also bears the broad arrow used by the Ministry of Defence however and would no doubt have belonged to a Captain or someone of high rank.
