NEXT AUCTION - Who knows??
Well that stopped us in our tracks...How very annoying!! Just as we were really getting started and things were really getting interesting!!
So, on reflection there is good news and bad news......the good news is that many good items were consigned for our Wedmore Auction in March, and we still have them!! Momentum was building and we have quite a following, which is very exciting.
Obviously, the bad is that it will be quite a while before people are confident in crowds, or even allowed to gather in crowds and if you want a good Auction, you need a good crowd! That much we do know.......remember Draycott???
What we are going to do is look into Online only Auctions and timed Auctions. No, they're not the same - I am already feeling sad about the loss of the waft of bacon butties and the slightly 'chaotic' buzz come the end, and of course, the atmosphere and meeting you all! However, we need to maintain momentum and stay in business, which is the main thing! But never fear! We still aim to hold the Town Hall community ones approximately 4 times a year, ie; Wedmore, Axbridge, Brent Knoll and Winscombe
There are plus and minus points to going online. Costs for the seller will inevitably be higher, but; you are selling to an Worldwide Audience rather than a few hundred in a Town Hall, so the Hammer price is likely to be higher. Costs for the Buyer are inevitably higher as well, but, we all have to be able to buy somehwere!
You will not be able to collect your money on the same day...... When we sell online we generally have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for our money. That's the way the system works - it doesn't pay out until everyone has paid in. This is why we love the concept of the Town Hall Auctions so much, even if you had to queue for a while. However, all good things come to those who wait.....!
We are still here!!! You can still consign your items ready for the next Auction. Send us photos so that we can help with a valuation and let's get planning!!!
We will keep you all posted and we thank you so much for all of your well wishes and ongoing support.
Can't wait for the next one, in whatever form it may take.
Best wishes and stay safe all of you,
Lou, Jules and the Ripley Auction team xx
