A stunning and extremely collectable Mahogany illuminated sign with Naval interest

This sign would have been placed on one of the Launch boats on HMS TIGER bringing Sailors to and from the shore.  There are two photographs that accompany this sign, one dated and one with an inscription to the verso.

HMS TIGER was ordered in 1945 during WW2, but was not completed until the War ended,

Later she was converted to a helicopter carrying and guided missile cruiser in the early 1970's.

In 1966 while still in Cardiff Docks, the TIGER crew were dispatched to Aberfan to assist in the recovery of children and teachers lost in this terrible tragedy.

More information can be found at http://www.barrylockyer.com/hms_tiger.htm

Barry Lockyer was kind enough to confirm and I quote "Yes I can confirm the illuminated sign would have been on the Admiral or Captain’s launch.

The boats were stowed between the two funnels. It could, of course, have been off the World War I H.M.S Tiger, a battle cruiser scrapped in 1946."

Everything about this sign is authentic and in original condition.  If it wasn't so collectable we would replace the bulbs with LED, re-wire it and have the glass replaced and restored to one side.  However, collectors prefer items such as these as close to its original state as possible.

Should you wish to purchase this sign with the afore mentioned repairs, please obtain a quote prior to purchase.
