Jacobean Renaissance Revival Carved Walnut and Cane Throne chairs c.1870(Ref: 2057/28)
A Harlequin set of Jacobean Revival Walnut and Cane Throne chairs c.1870
Each chair features ornate carved barley twist walnut frames with leafy scroll work, cherub figures, roses and crowns on the upper rail and lower stretcher. They have tall cane backs and cane seats and various shaped carved finials.
One chair seems to have faired a little worse than the others and I hope my photos clearly show the condition of the chairs.
All cane work is in good condition, it is only the woodwork holding it in place on the chair that bears the Crown that lets it down a little. I should imagine it would be a lot easier to repair than repairing the cane work. This chair also has an iron bar supporting the middle stretcher.
I hope my photographs capture the stunning hand carved quality and character of these chairs.
The largest chair which bears the single Cherub measures: 45.5" Height 23" Width (across arm rests) 17" Depth (of seat)
The smallest chair which bears the Roses measures: 43" Height 24" Width (across arm rests) 17" Depth (of seat)
