





20th Century Large Keshan Rug
(Ref: 187)A Large rectangular Keshan, or more laterly named Kashan rug featuring a pattern of medalians and foliage. There is a border of mainly reds and blues, the main body of the rug is cream coloured predominantly with a red medalian in the centre.
Keshan is a City famous for its' textiles and pottery and was an importnat trading City as it was a resting place along the Silk Road. Keshan was making Carpets during the Safavid Dynasty (1502-1736). Between then and the 19th Century there was a period of decline, however, they are once again known to be of high quality.
There is a Keshan Carpet from the 16th Century in the V&A in London!! And you could have one in your home!!
It really does feel beautifuly soft and is in excellent condition.
It measures 2.3m x 1.6m or 7.5ft x 5.2ft
